Ploughing Match & Show

This is the highlight of the year. The ploughing competitions are the core of the event with classes for horse teams and for vintage and modern equipment in the tractor classes. In 2007, a class for ladies was introduced for the first time as well as a vintage class for the under-21 age group.

The competitions in the domestic and horticultural sections have become an important part of the day with classes for cookery, preserves & produce, handicrafts & photography, homemade wine, flowers and vegetables and flower arranging.

In the children’s section, there are a similar range of classes divided according to age ranging from the under 5s to the under 16s. In 2012, there is a competition for the best scarecrow dressed in red, white and blue!

In 2005, a show and main ring was added to the ploughing match, building upon the vintage display that had been a part of the ploughing match for many years.
